Review of Complete Me by J. Kenner

Well hello to our Sassy sisters! This is our first blog post! Yay! Sarah and I decided to review a series we read together. So we will start this thing off chatting about Complete Me (Stark Trilogy #3) by J. Kenner!

Synopsis:

This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the  heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

Complete Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

REVIEW:

We give Complete Me: A whopping 4 panty rating!!

Mindy: Well Sarah, let me just say that I’m quite indebted to you for getting me to read Ms. Kenner’s books.

Sarah:  I read the first two books in this trilogy right after reading the Fifty Shades books in hopes to find something similar in style. And I have to say these definitely didn't disappoint.

Mindy: You’re so right, it didn’t.  I thought I was the only one having issues about finding something really good to read after Fifty Shades.  But my oh my, Damien Stark.....*sigh*

Sarah:  What can I say about the ever dashing and always dirty talking Mr Stark besides mmm mmm mmm!

Mindy: Well we’re going to talk about the third book in the trilogy, Complete Me.  I really liked the first two books! I think when I started the first book it took me a little bit to get into.  50% into the first book and Whoa! It just picked up from there! Nikki was a really likeable character and I enjoyed the others too! Best friend, Jamie was a hoot!

Sarah:  Yes, I agree.  The first book did start off a bit slow, but once that halfway mark is passed you best hold on for a good ride! I loved most of the characters in this book.  One of the secondary characters is my absolute favorite! Evelyn Dodge is an older woman who was a star turned manager from the golden days of Hollywood.  She brought so much wit and snarkiness to the story...... I have to say I want to be Evelyn when I grow up!!!

Mindy: So Complete Me begins right where the second book, Claim Me, left off.  Luckily for me, I read the books in the series back to back so there was no waiting time for me. I would have lost my shit if I finished book two and had to wait! That was a crazy way to end book 2!

Sarah:  Yes book 2 did end on a bit of a cliff.....lol! Complete Me picks up in Germany where Damien is on trial.  I don’t want to give away any spoilers.....so let’s just say that there’s plenty of twists and turns at the beginning dealing with the trial and its outcome.

Mindy: And that’s just one of the things I loved so much about this trilogy.  Not just the romance part of it, but the story was pretty intense. But I won’t say that the romance wasn’t a big part...it was...and it was spectacular!  Those two got it on quite a bit...I even got exhausted at some point. Come on Sarah! The boy had a fetish, am I right?!

Sarah:  A fetish that would make anyone’s panties start to smolder.....yes there is a story here folks, but wowza the man knows how to lay it on a lady that’s for sure!  Throughout the story you learn more about what drives Damien to be the way he is, in and out of the bedroom.

Mindy: I would consider it a type of bondage fetish if you will.  That freak-a-leek uses bra straps, a damn seat belt, and the drapes to tie this chick up! I really could keep going! Don’t even get me started on the pearls!

Sarah:  The sexual appetites of Damien & Nikki are a big part of what draws readers into the book, but interwoven between sheet twisting sex scenes are the struggles and trials these two characters encounter.  To me this wasn’t just a fluff story.  More a story of two broken people learning to love one another despite what gets thrown at them.

Mindy: Towards the end, before all the questions are answered, I was afraid that there was going to be a bit of a “Scooby Doo” moment.  Where they say, “Oh yeah, it was so-and-so that worked as the secretary that we met in book one.”  Luckily, that wasn’t the case at all.  I actually didn’t see that ending come at all! Pretty unexpected for me.

Sarah:  Yes!! That’s what I love about J Kenner, she keeps the story going until the end to keep your attention.  The only thing that was a major drawback for me about this book was that the ending came about so suddenly and there wasn’t any backstory.......kinda left me wanting more you know??

Mindy: Definitely! The ending left me wanting much more! Either way, I am recommending this series for those who enjoyed the Fifty Shades trilogy and the Crossfire series.

Sarah:  Agreed, this is a good read for anyone who has been sucked in by the New Adult books of late.  And I must say that I am now a die hard fan of Ms. Kenner and will be friendly stalking her until her next book :).

Mindy: Absolutely! J. Kenner’s next book is actually going to be an epilogue novella that is part of the Stark Trilogy.  It's titled Take Me and is expected December 3, 2013!   Wanted, is scheduled to be released January 7, 2014. It sounds like a winner!  Can. Not. Wait.
